While browsing through a few blogs yesterday, I discovered a blogger I have actually met in person. Thing is, I met them in person just under ten years ago before blogging was the popular past time it is now.
I knew this particular blogger through IRC.
To be fair, I was a teenager and it was a perfectly acceptable past time to use the almighty Internet Relay Chat. In fact, I still know a few people who use it.
The thing with IRC though is that it was very much like Twitter now. We started having meet ups where we would drink copious amounts, laugh and be banned from places. A lot of you would have liked it.
Now what I want to know and am oh so curious about is who among you were IRC whores? I know there has to be at least one or two because years ago it was the geeky past time of choice.
Oh yes and I’m not divulging the name of the blogger I’m talking about because they’re a bit of a fruitcake.

I was a big supporter of IRC a few years back when I was making Warcraft maps as a hobby. Used to hang out on Shadowfire. I even had some of my own channels! Even a macro to login to all my chatrooms.
I even ventured to the lulzly #hottub.
I still use IRC now and then to chat to some people in the 8bitmusic/chiptune community.
