Monday Confessional

We went to watch Terminator: Salvation this morning. I was ready for disappointment, after all, it’s happened before. Star Wars Episode 1 – 3 made my favourite movies into a joke. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was a mess. Transformers was just a chance for Michael Bay to jack off to explosions and Megan Fox – in other words, another beloved thing of my childhood fucked.

Salvation did none of those things.

To be honest, I had a little more hope than I let on. All the critics had something shit to say about the movie. That normally amounts to a good thing for me because god knows, I get scared when they say a movie is good. I’m so happy to anounce that I was not disappointed. There were so many nods in the movie to the original greatness that was T1 and T2. Some were so subtle that unless you were a child who knew exactly when to freeze the movie to see Arnold’s dangly bits, you wouldn’t pick them up.

I fucking loved it and I’m not ashamed to say it. The boyf complained about there not being any heart in the movie, so I said, fair enough – you can think that but I have to disagree because I felt a lot of heart. I’ve been home for ten minutes and I’m dying to watch it again.

McG, despite your ridiculous name, you delivered to those of us who worshipped the series in a certain way. You undid the horror that was T3. You did what James Cameron did and made me, once again, feel for the machine. And thanks for Supernatural too.

Also, the CGI Arnie was fucking well done. Unfortunately, they didn’t show his dangly bits.
