Living up to expectations

24 Jun

I’m glad to see that the government is performing as it always has and are delivering with the same pizzazz as usual according to a lovely article on IOL this morning:

The Western Cape’s head of transport and public works has been suspended with immediate effect.

Thami Manyathi has been placed on fully paid suspension for an indefinite period while an investigation into alleged tender irregularities within his department is carried out.

A spokesperson for Transport and Public Works MEC Robin Carlisle said the allegations against Manyathi were financial misconduct, dereliction of duty, gross negligence and contravention of legislation and policy that regulate the conduct of public servants.

That dude has to be congratulated, he’s only been doing the job for like a month and is already living up to the legacy of our past politicians. Well done son!

Perhaps this wouldn’t happen if we put people into these ministry positions who actually knew something about the department they are now minister of. Have you seen our communications minister, Siphiwe Nyanda? The man used to be a military general for gods sakes. You can see he has no idea what the hell he’s doing there by the glazed look that comes over his eyes while he’s reading his PR company’s written statements.

This all marginally cheered me up though, it’s great to see some things never change.

You know what’s more important though? The fact that this morning was the one morning I left the house in my pjay pants to take the Boyf to work…and of course it’s the one morning that when I get back, I run into my neighbour who wants to have a chat. Honey, I’m standing here in pink pants…it’s pretty fucking cold outside….do you think we can do this later? Thank heavens she had to get to work or I’d probably still be standing there.

Hey, if the US can put Bush in charge of a whole country, surely SA can pick a few generals to be ministers! ;-)

Del – It worries me that you’re comparing the two ;)

Craig – Whilst they are pretty rocking…I’ve seen her in her night gown…sooooo not her style.

Aww. Tender irregularities. Much better than those horrid rough irregularities we used to see under the ANC.
