This makes me so happy.

Afrigator is running another one of their t-shirt competitions. I didn’t do the last one because I didn’t really have anything nice to say since I hadn’t logged in to their site for a good while. Now though, with their AfriGreater December , I have something to say.

Over here, they ask the question “What about Afrigator seriously ticks you off?”

Oh guys. I’m so glad you asked.

Let’s start right at the beginning, when you first get to the site.

  • Before you even do anything, log in or whatever, you’re faced with a page featuring the blogging worlds latest posts. What ticks me off is that this is delayed by up to two hours at times. It gets frustrating.
  • Then the log in. I have the same complaint as ExMi. A remember me option would be great for us lazy bastards. And like, I can’t remember my password sometimes.
  • On the right hand side in a little box are the top ranked blogs. Why does Thought Leader count as one blog? This isn’t really something that ticks me off but I thought I’d query it now. There are tons of people who contribute to this fascist and moronic site (thought leader, not afrigator) so every time one of them updates their personal blogs, thought leader gets another link coming through. It’s no wonder they’re number 1.
  • That leads me to another thing. What does tick me off is when I click the blogs button, to see if I can find any interesting new blogs to read of course, I find numerous posts from the same forum. Every time a reply is posted it updates on Afrigator. Annoying. I don’t like sifting through one line forum replies to find actual posts that people have put time and effort into writing.
  • A better explanation of how the stats work in an easy to find place would be nice.
  • The support button doesn’t work. Right… so when I have issues, I’m going to click that, get no help and then think fuck it, I’m moving on. This is kind of the reason I stopped using Afrigator for a few months – I couldn’t find out how to fix a little problem that I had and my internet ADD kicked in and I was no longer interested.
  • The site design. It doesn’t tick me off and there’s nothing wrong with it, I’m sure tons of people love it. I just don’t like the colours and the layout and stuff. Just, you know, putting that out there.

And even if I don’t win one of the t-shirts with this post, it feels good to put it out there and I’m glad that the Afrigator team has opened themselves up to the criticism of their community in an effort to make things better. Well I hope that’s why they’re doing it and they aren’t just some sadistic wankers.

This was fun.

Let’s have more complaint competitions kay?

P.S. The hot topics section sucks – for me anyway. It’s all crappy depressing ancient news. Maybe create a new hot topics section for the people who don’t want to read something that will make them slit their wrists. I mean, two of those topics are related to my work. Egads. Not something I want to read about when I’m having blog time.

    “Please moan at us”?
The only thing that could have made this better for you is if you got paid for it.

It’s amazing what competitions will make people do. They throw out five vouchers for free t-shirts…not a lot of cost there…or minimal if springleap is sponsoring it…and they get free publicity from whores like me.

    Yay for marketing.

  3. Stii says:

Thanks Batman. Just so you know, you’re #1 so far in the running for a tshirt!

We do appreciate the feedback, even if you think we suck! The things mentioned here are priceless! I’ll write up a post addressing some of these issues on my blog and we’ll definitely look into changing some of these issues ASAP! Some we might not change, like the look and feel, but hey, we can’t be everything to everybody all the time!

    Cheers and thanks so much!

  4. Goblin says:

Ag Stii, I’m all about constructive criticism man. I don’t think you guys suck completely though. I mean, I was running out of steam on those last couple of points.

  5. 6000 says:

    Wow. Backtracking 101.

  6. Goblin says:

Gees, did it really come off that bitchy originally?

  7. Stii says:

Nah, not really, but its hard to interpret emotions through text sometimes!

  8. 6000 says:

Love the fact you were running out of steam, but still decided to think up some more negatives anyway. :-)
    You’re my hero(ine).

  9. ExMi says:

hahaha. this made me laugh. i’m glad to see I wasn’t the only one ticked off by those things.

I mean, there’s certain basics that make me go ‘aaaah’. I’m very easy to please. But if those are lacking, it’s like the end of the world.

  10. Goblin says:

Stii – I’m glad to see you catch on fast and just assumed I was being bitchy though ;)

6k – Were you partaking in some happy drugs last night?

ExMi – It is the end of the world :)

BTW, did you get your tshirt already?

  16. Goblin says:

Noooo, I didn’t. I didn’t like even get my code or anything dude. I got the email from Lester like 2 weeks ago and was waiting patiently but I did put a comment up on the Afrigator blog saying that I haven’t got it a couple of days ago.

I’m giving you guys another month before I start ranting ;)
