Will kill for Zapiro

So on this Monday afternoon, the main story everywhere is Zapiro’s cartoon published in the Sunday Times yesterday.

A wonderful image of Zuma ready to rape Justice with the help of the ANC, ANCYL, Cosatu and SACP.

Of course these people are all thoroughly pissed off about it, because, well, the truth hurts you know…and of course Zapiro has refused to apologise.

Good for you dude.

That cartoon is an absolutely accurate description of the state of affairs, despite what the mindless sheep on Thought Leader have to say, so I’m doing my part to spread it around.

I mean seriously, can anyone with half a brain seriously argue that, basically, that isn’t what he and his friends are trying to do?

And yes the shower head was necessary. In July alone, long after the incident, there was an article published overseas referencing the stupidity of Zuma’s famous shower to rid yourself of aids bullshit…the world hasn’t forgotten, neither should we. The man is a tit. I mean, has it become a competition to find the most ridiculously stupid and incompetent ANC leader?

Save the picture, mail it to everyone you know, spread it everywhere. It’s funny.

Of course in a few weeks I may be saying R.I.P. Zapiro…oh well.

P.S. The title is called “Will kill for Zapiro” in reference to the spectacularly stupid comment made by the ANCYL idiot a while back about them killing for Zuma. Just for those of you who don’t know.

    Nah. And here’s why:

    1. It trivialises rape. Gang rape in this case. Which is a bit of an issue in SA.
    2. Drawing connections between JZ and rape isn’t “clever” or “funny”. JZ has never raped anyone.
    3. JZ was misquoted on the shower comment.

    and that’s just for starters.

With this, Shapiro has lowered himself to the level of “lesser” cartoonists. He’s lost a lot of followers. It’s almost desperate – he is now commenting with emotion instead of logic when it comes to JZ.
He’s better than that. Or at least he was.

6k I am totally with Goblin here.

I vote no apology. Since when are artists expected to act on anything but emotion?!

Unless you can prove your statement, JZ will always be an ‘alleged’ suspect rapist. Nothing can change that. Everything he gets ripped off for has a history of stupidity behind it.

  3. B says:

It sure did piss loads of people off though..

and the name Shapiro has just got more airtime than he ever has.. No such thing as bad publicity, eh?

I must say I half expected a soap on a rope to be dangling from his neck…

    Hahahahaha

Shebee: “Unless you can prove your statement, JZ will always be an ‘alleged’ suspect rapist.”

    Why? Because he’s a man?
    He was acquitted of rape.

“In a country where we have a serious scourge of fighting violence against women and in particular, rape, we need to be very careful how we use the notion and the concept of rape loosely to demonstrate any form of perceived abuse.”

“While we accept that cartoonists have the licence to express controversial views, yesterday’s cartoon is in extremely bad taste and goes way beyond limits of acceptability,”

    Hear hear!

  5. Goblin says:

6k – I love it when you disagree with me. All perfectly valid points though. I don’t agree with some of them but they are valid and logical.
I on the other hand think that by trying to dodge these charges, Zuma is trying to do something, as our future president, that is as bad as rape. He’s trying to have his way with justice by using the force of his cronies..and while a low blow in terms of prior accusations…that’s a low blow that he was open to.
There’s a lot more I could argue about with this but you know…small comment box.
It would be an interesting conversation though. ;)
Also…the shower comment…misquoted or not…that’s what everyone remembers unfortunately and so….it will slowly become the truth.

shebee – Maybe it’s a generational female thing? Thanks dear :)

B – I like people who piss lots of people off ;) (Sometimes it means they’re doing something right)
I like the soap on a rope though…gave me a giggle!

  6. Goblin says:

laura – I like the righteous anger there. Rock on.

nicnac – Another valid point made. Good on ya!

I left another comment – check your spam queue!

As for Zuma trying to “avoid” court, I was speaking to a legal friend of mine (and one that dislikes JZ, incidentally) and she said that one has to go through all these attempts to get cases thrown out before the full trial, because if you don’t, then they will be held against you in the trial – “if you are innocent, how come you didn’t try to get the charges thrown out, then?”.
Blame the system, not the defendent.

I still dislike Shapiro’s inference of Zuma with rape. That’s below the belt. *ahem* I agree with COSATU (yes, me, really) – it’s abuse dressed up as freedom of the press.

  8. 6000 says:

Laura – “The man” is NOT a rapist. “The man” would be quite within his rights to sue your arse off for saying that.

FFS, I know “mud sticks” but how brainless are people that just ignore the court decision – who is undermining the legal system now?

  9. Goblin says:

I don’t think people are ignoring the court decision there dear, I think it’s more a case of who was bought off to come to that decision.

The problem with the legal system is that what you end up with might not be the truth. Everything can be manipulated.

That’s why you’ve got to wonder, why are all his supporters freaking out about him going to court? Unless there’s proof that’s concrete he could walk quite easily.

It’s interesting to say the least…and now I’m going to check my spam queue.

Aren’t you glad that I finally wrote something that allows you to leave long interesting comments though? I’m digging it.

  10. Goblin says:

6k – Found it! And some others by people, what the hell is with that?

    Okay you can carry on.

  11. B says:

Its getting hot in here.. even your spam filter tried to censor this..

Its all a conspiracy.. the aliens are behind it all and we are all lying in jelly while our minds are plugged into a virtual madness….hide your woman and children.. he has soap on a rope!!

oh did i say that out loud? oops!

  12. Goblin says:

    hahahahahhahaha

Fuck B but I dig your armpits.

Maybe Zuma had something to do with the fake moon landings too…or…OMG…HE SHOT JFK

  13. 6000 says:

Check them – they probably all have a link in.
Either that or Helen “two hats” Zille doesn’t want us to read them.

  14. 6000 says:

“I don’t think people are ignoring the court decision there dear, I think it’s more a case of who was bought off to come to that decision.”

I presume the two previous guys who she also falsely accused of rape “bought off” the judge as well, then?

As I say in my “Zuma – drop the charges or not?” post – we’re stuck now. No scenario works out. Drop the charges and what does that say? Take him to court and no-one will believe (trust) the decision, guilty or not.
If Mbeki did frame Zuma, he’s succeeded.

Meh – I comment on your every post. Sadly, it’s usually just to say “yes. I agree.” Maybe we should meet up for a drink and thrash this one out?
    Literally, if you wish.

  15. Goblin says:

Yeah we are stuck. It blows :(

Should I do another post on how much cyclists do for our community and how much they rock? That would totally lead to hours of comment box debate :P
