I still don't care…sixth months later

3 Aug

I am reviving this post once again because I am sick of getting various emails to sign petitions and join groups campaigning to get Heath Ledger a post humous Oscar for his role as the Joker in The Dark Knight.

People…I DO NOT CARE. If he was still alive and got an Oscar…great, I’m sure he would have deserved it. If he gets a post humous Oscar now…great…I’m sure it’s a great tribute and all.

But…

I do not give enough of a fuck to go out there and join a group getting him an Oscar just because he essentially killed himself whether it was intentional or not and now everyone is going gaga over it.

It’s sad that we will never know if people would have made such a big deal over his performance if he was alive. Let it go. It’s a movie. Yes it might be a great movie but it’s still just a movie. Yes he was an okay actor but he was still just an actor. Yes he may win a post humous Oscar but that is still just a little statue.

Original Post Below:

Over a week after that Heath Ledger person died there are tons of people all over the world still going mad over it and crying. I didn’t know he had such a diverse family and wide circle of friends because, surely, those are the only people who should be taking the news of his death with any difficulty? Oh, they’re not? Bollocks. There goes that theory.

It kind of pisses me off to be quite honest. The dude was an actor, never did anything fabulously important for the world other than entertain a few people in it for a few hours and yet, he’s being mourned like he did.

I honestly don’t care.

Thousands of people the world over died the same day he did and no one knows their names or cares about the families they left behind. Why should he be any more important? Not only that, but there’s loads of important news I could be reading about but instead, I get to read tributes to this little Aussie. It’s not like he was even murdered in some sadistic way. If everything out there is to be believed, he did this to himself.

It’s all because of Brokeback Mountain I tell you. Then on top of that there’s the guilt from trying to fill the great Nicholson’s shoes as The Joker, that’d make me want to OD too.

What about some other people that have died this year already that have contributed something really great to the world? You know any of their names? I can give you one as an example.

Richard Knerr.

I’ll bet good money you have no idea who the hell he is. Well, he did something a lot more important than Heath. He was co-founder of the toy company that popularised such toys as the hula hoop and the frisbee. That’s a major contribution to our world man.

What about Judah Folkman? No?

Well, he was a prolific cancer researcher who died last month too.

You don’t hear about these people though. Nooo. All you hear about constantly is the death of some fucking actor who once did a gay cowboy movie.

That’s just damn screwed up. Leave it to his family to do the mourning and move on.

    1. Not a son of a bitch. Just a bitch.
    2. Do you feel anything about the thousands of other people that died that day? I doubt it. Leave that grieving you mentioned and I mentioned to his family and friends or start grieving for every single person that dies in this world everyday.

A society is judged by the gods it worships. We’re in deep doo-doo, aren’t we?

  4. Goblin 04. Feb, 2008 at 8:56 am #

That’s probably the best way to put it :)

Janet, get a life! We don’t really care about Heath’s death. Or, we do, but only up to a point.

I didn’t even know who he was when the news broke…

As always you are much more straight forward and to the point than me ;)

Righto, I have to agree that even tho I was horrified by his death (he really was a fab looking boy), I didn’t “know” him (in the biblical or any other sense) and therefore as much as I think it’s sad (particularly for his close friends and family) that he died, that’s about the extent of the mourning I can manage.

To be fair tho, I also can’t imagine anything worse than a paper listing everyone who died yesterday around the world … but your point is valid.

ps. anyone surprised that Janet appears to be from the great US of A (it’s the Fort Worth, Texas that gave it away) and was probably just browsing around online for more articles to fuel her voyeurism into Heath’s death.

And I’m like this even in real life!! LOL

I think most of the young girls who are so very sad about (over??) his death are really just sad cause now there’s one less hunk in Tinseltown to drool over…

i liked ledger’s work, but what fucked me off most was CNN reporting him as being an american actor.

p.s. did folkman die of cancer? now that -would- be a bitch.

  10. Goblin 04. Feb, 2008 at 4:06 pm #

Ah well that’s CNN for you. Bloody useless.

Unfortunately Folkman didn’t die in an ironic twist, it’s unfortunate :(

    Grief athletes.

    They’re everywhere.

You insensitive son of a bitch.
    (or whatever)…

I can’t believe “ur not what Heath was”. Is this true?

A sad, suicidal, drug-addicted gay cowboy?

I’m glad we haven’t met in person. I pictured you in a Stetson with a same-sex sidekick and a few packets of valium tucked in your PVC bra.

I guess I’d have been disappointed.

    No no, it’s a lie.

The Boyfriend is really the Manwoman and I was just telling her last night “I can’t quit you Bobby May”

The stetson is pink too. It’s really cool.

*sniggers at grief athletes* I know where you got that :P

Did you see Ben Trovato’s column this week?
    http://www.iol.co.za/index.php?click_id=2904
Perhaps you could forward it to Janet?

“Heath Ledger’s memorial service was held in Los Angeles on Sunday.

For those mental midgets who would rather read a book than Heat magazine, Heath is the man who single-handedly brought peace to the Middle East and then discovered a cure for cancer while ending the civil war in Sudan.

Reading the gushing obits, I got the impression that Heath must have died after heroically plunging into a piranha-infested river in an attempt to save a group of disabled children whose school bus had been swept off a low-lying bridge in a remote area inhabited by man-eating wolves.

On closer inspection it turned out that Heath died after heroically plunging into a sack full of drugs. His greatest accomplishment was spending 90 minutes pretending to be a gay cowboy.

His memorial service was, by all accounts, not to be snorted at. Dozens of film stars turned up in the hope of meeting “Fernando”, Heath’s closest and most trusted dealer.

Heath’s father, acting inexplicably out of character for an Australian, delivered a eulogy that was strangely lacking in the words: “That useless junkie got what was coming to him.”

Instead, he spoke of the terrible accident that befell his son. Yeah, I had a similar accident once and it got me six months suspended for three years.

Meanwhile, two US entertainment channels have folded under pressure from Heath’s friends and agreed not to broadcast a video of the poor misunderstood thespian at a drug orgy saying: “I used to smoke five joints a day for 20 years.”

Cumulatively speaking, that’s the equivalent of sitting down and smoking an elephant made entirely of marijuana. No wonder he needed sleeping pills.”

I feel hard done by. Where’s the credit? You know, a line saying: “After reading the fabulous Goblin’s blog last week, it inspired me to write a little article, whilst being funnier than her, is still not as good”

    Ha! It’s good though.

He regularly rips me off. I forgive him.
Find it in your heart to do the same.

Flippen hell… took me ages to read through comments.. Looks like Janet has a stick firmly shoved up her ass for the dead gay boy heath…

… Must say I never met heath.. but heard he gave great head..

I also think his suicide is his problem.. people who go around offing themselves are losers.. why should I mourn someone who didn’t even value themselves enough to live?

    Bite me Janet…

P.S. dirrent know you had them testicles Goblin.,. was firmly convinced you had chesticles.. hahahahahaha

  18. Goblin 05. Aug, 2008 at 8:36 am #

I’m a riddle wrapped in an enigma when it comes to my testicles and chesticles….omg…I just gave it away…

People have such sexist stereotypes :( Janet apparently thinks that because I’m insensitive, rude and didn’t like Heath…I must have a penis.

  19. B 05. Aug, 2008 at 9:05 am #

    Such a nice penis too!!

  20. 6000 07. Aug, 2008 at 3:48 pm #

Bless. A wonderfully reinvented post for the new age of Keith-masturbation.

Did he have a nice penis? Really?
    Who told you?

  21. Goblin 07. Aug, 2008 at 4:52 pm #

I’m just glad you’re alive! Even if you talk about my penis.
